UK working days calculator 2026–2027: nation and extra closures

Count working days between two dates in 2026 or 2027. Choose a UK nation, include or exclude the start date, and add your own full-day closures.

Count your working dates

Use YYYY-MM-DD dates within your range, separated by spaces or commas. Duplicate, weekend and holiday exclusions are counted once. The end date counts if eligible.

Direct answer

Can I count across New Year without losing the next year’s bank holidays?

Yes. This calculator includes the GOV.UK bank-holiday dates for 2026 and 2027 in England and Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland. It counts Monday–Friday dates, always includes the end date when eligible, and lets you choose whether to include the start date. Extra closure dates are excluded once, even if they also fall on a weekend or bank holiday. Dates outside these two years are rejected rather than calculated with incomplete holiday data.

A result of three working days is a count within the chosen range; it is not a guarantee that a supplier will finish a task on the end date. Write down the nation, start-day choice, holiday setting and extra closures with the result. The detailed counted-date list makes an unexpected total inspectable. For example, re-entering a bank holiday as an extra closure must not subtract it twice. This tool uses whole days and a Monday–Friday pattern: a part-day closure, Saturday rota or provider cut-off needs separate planning. Your entries stay in the browser and are not placed in the public share link.

Frequently asked questions

Does the calculator decide paid leave or a statutory deadline?

No. It counts dates under the displayed assumptions. Employment terms, local holidays, part-time schedules, legal counting rules and bank processing cut-offs can differ. For a deadline, obtain the actual rule and use the counted dates only as a check. Refresh the official source if a new bank holiday is announced.

Independent planning tool. Official holiday snapshot checked 30 September 2026; supported range 1 January 2026–31 December 2027. The end date is included only when it passes the selected exclusions. No fractional days or custom working week.
